The second last installment of the Throne of Glass series EMPIRE OF STORMS by Sarah J Maas has finally found its way into my hands! I’ve been counting down since I found out about the release date four months ago and the day has finally come!!! The cover is stunning and boy is she thick. SIX HUNDRED AND EIGHTY NINE PAGES OF PURE GOODNEZZ. I just hope and pray that nothing happened to Rowan because my heart cant handle that.

Re birth!
I was really adamant for the first few months but we all knew that wouldn’t last. And low and behold, I dropped off for probably close to two months. Any other year this would have been fine but I set myself the ridiculous task of reading 120 books this year and I fell back too far to recover which would require literally reading one book every two days for the rest of the year. Which leaves me…
I read the first book ‘The Raven boys” by Maggie Steifvater a few years ago shortly after it came out purely based on my love for her previous series “Shiver” -The Mercy Falls Wolves – which to this day still has some of my most beloved characters(Sam and St Cole.) However the first time I read about Blue and her crazy family and the four troublesome boys I really didn’t like it. I found the story line shonky and it all a little too ‘ look at me and my crazy family, aren’t we so weird and unique.’ The talking trees also just killed it for me.
However as I mentioned in previous post I’m saving up for my New Zealand trip (14days to go!) and all my funds are going to that, hence no new books. So time for a re read and low and behold second time around I did really like it.
Blue till wasnt a strong character in my opinion and Adams ego and pride got in the way though the poor guy is going to be screwed over romantically in the end. Gansey should just shut up and be happy with his mountains of money and Rowan seems to have a split personality. Noah was a shock but it kept it interesting and Whelk the teacher was a down right sociopath. Her family, eh not impressed but I’m assuming they will develop more in the coming books.
Basically it was a nice easy read with uncomplicated characters and a fairly straight forward plot. Which is exactly what I needed to get me back into the reading swing. Plus ofcourse I do believe this is now a completed series which is music to any book lovers ears! And they really are the most absolutely gorgeous covers. So come Wednesday I will be driving my pretty little butt down to Dymocks with my flash new ‘gold rewards card’and buying the rest of the series to hopefully smash out befote I head off on my ski trip!

In the last three\four weeks I have read a total of three books. That is appalling and I’m pretty disappointed because I set a 120 book challenge this year and worked so hard to keep on top of it for the first five months of the year!
